When a National Fast Casual Operation assessed their security measures and risks, they concluded that they needed greater coverage and capabilities.  A technology upgrade for their video surveillance assets was approved for deployment on a fast track basis.  Accepting that the current technology was a low end solution they invested in an industry standard platform to monitor their external, parking, FoH and BoH areas.  The project contemplated a complete rip and replace and disposal of the retired systems.  The solution served to monitor both employee and customer areas to mitigate issues arising from safety and injury claims as well as dishonest employee deterrence and safety training.  The solution included Centralized Power Distribution in support of (6) Indoor PTZ Dome Cameras and (2) Outdoor Cameras connected to DVR with remote polling.

Plan

Consult with Customer to develop a fast track deployment schedule.

A deployment plan enabled Video Surveillance Specialists and Structured Cable Technicians with a plan for overnight deployments.  Dedicated TEAMs were utilized to cover specific geographic areas to meet an ambitious project rollout schedule.

Communication plan was approved for notifications to store management and Facilities Services Management.

Build

Staging:  Cameras, DVR’s, and Central Power Units were kitted centrally with appropriate cable and connectors for each facility.  Kit arrived on a just in time basis to meet deployment teams.

Decommission: Removal of old systems, paint, patch and replace ceiling tiles and walls as necessary.

Installation: Surveillance Specialist and Structured Cable Specialist pooled their skills to install and terminate infrastructure to support cameras to headend DVR and Central Power Unit.  Cameras were mounted to walls and ceilings and to headend.  Terminations were tagged on headend for each camera position.

Operate

Cable tested for TIA compliance.

Cameras and DVR tested and Polled for certification.

Project documentation for model, serial numbers and photo documentation completed and sent to customer.

Final acceptance to Facilities Management.
