15 ways to make a bird feeder with your own hands

Birds will love bottle, tree, box, orange peel and even fully edible feeders.

Simple bird bottle feeder from a plastic bottle

What do you need

  • Knife;
  • big plastic bottle.

How to do

Cut a large hole at the top of the bottle. After that, it remains only to fill it with food and hang it by the handle.

You can use a smaller bottle. Make two large holes through it and pass a wooden stick under them. Pass the thread through the lid, as shown in the video below, and hang the feeder.

Plastic bottle feeder with sprinkled feed

What do you need

  • Plastic bowl;
  • scissors;
  • awl;
  • plastic bottle;
  • a small tray;
  • bolt with washer and nut;
  • knife;
  • bird food;
  • wire;
  • pliers.

How to do

If the bowl is too tall, trim the edges. Make a hole in the bottom of the bowl and in the bottle cap. Make a hole in the tray where the structure will be installed. Connect the lid, bowl and tray as shown in the video.

Cut a small piece above the neck of the bottle so that feed can pass through it. Pour it into the bottle and screw on the cap with attached parts. Screw the wire to the bottom of the bottle and make a hook out of it. Details are in the video.

Turn the feeder over so that the bottle is upside down. Feed will gradually pour out of it into a bowl. To add food to the bottle, simply open the lid, pour it on and close the container again.

The bottle can be attached to the board to make the birds more comfortable:

Ice Cream Sticks Bird Feeder

What do you need

  • Wooden sticks for ice cream;
  • paint and brush or spray paint;
  • Scotch;
  • glue gun;
  • scissors;
  • ribbon or yarn.

How to do

Color the sticks in any colors and dry. Put a few sticks on a straight surface, forming the bottom of the feeder. Secure them with tape.

Glue one stick at the two edges of the figure opposite each other. From other edges, attach another stick. Fold a few more rows in the same way. Outside, glue four sticks vertically.

Then make two parts for the roof, as shown in the video. Separately, glue the two sticks together with their edges to each other and glue the parts made to them. Attach the resulting roof to the vertical supports.

Fold the three sticks together, and glue another one horizontally in the center. Cut the sticks on three sides and glue the part to the bottom of the feeder. Pull a tape or yarn under the roof, knot it and hang the feeder.

Log bird feeder

How to do

On two flat sides of the log, make holes in a circle with a long drill. Remove the cut core from the log. Saw the hole with a jigsaw as shown in the video.

Insert wooden discs along the edges of the workpiece and hit with a hammer. For the discs to fit tightly, their diameter must correspond to the diameter of the hole in the log. Instead, you can nail wood circles outside. Then they should be the diameter of the log itself. Screw the hooks on top, attach the chain to them and hang the feeder.

  • 60 ml of hot water;
  • 150 g of bird food;
  • spoon;
  • cookie molds;
  • needle;
  • threads
  • scissors.

Orange Bird Feeder

What do you need

  • orange;
  • knife;
  • 4 wooden sticks;
  • 2 plastic plates;
  • thick needle;
  • scissors;
  • thick threads or yarn.

How to do

Cut the orange in half and cut the flesh. One orange will make two feeders. Pierce each half of the peel with two wooden sticks crosswise.

On each plastic plate, make one hole in the center and four holes opposite each other on the sides. Cut four pieces from threads or yarn and tie each of them to the sticks next to the peel.

Using a needle, thread the threads into the side holes on the plate, and then into the center. The plate should be turned down to form a roof. Level it and hang the feeder by the threads.

The feeder can be simplified by simply hanging the peel of an orange by the thread:
